Brian engaged with Cardiff Airport and carried out a full Analysis of the organisation to unclutter the existing system and provide a clear view of the processes ensuring an effective and sufficient system, creating simplistic documents that could be adopted by everyone working at the airport.

Brian has a really great way of explaining the standards in practical terms that you can apply everyday to your business. I first met Brian at an ISO awareness seminar he was delivering on behalf of the Welsh Government. I’d attended a number of seminars in the previous weeks and thought this would be the usual monotonous sales pitch, I couldn’t be more wrong!

Before we met Brian, we had a Quality management system that was more hinderance and hassle than help. We had unknowingly constrained ourselves into mountains of paperwork and found that we weren’t really managing the Quality of our product but just about keeping on top of the Quality of our paperwork.
Brian challenged us to think about Quality management systems differently, we threw out the manual and started again and have since managed to proactively think about our business and our processes and consider different ways in managing these (without the 50 page procedure, and numerous checklists) We developed procedures that were based more on flow charts and diagrams
rather than prose, we developed controls within our IT infrastructure that threw out certain records we were keeping but still managed to evidence our procedure and have simplified many more processes.We asked Brian to help us transition over to ISO 9001: 2015, but what we got out of the time we spent with him was so much more. We understand ISO guidelines and the various ways in which these can be applied, we have used the same approach with our other Management Systems – Environment and Health & Safety and found that ISO and its implementation is not separate or parallel to our business but is in the fabric of our business and as a result we spend less time on paper work and more time improving our business and our products.
